Woman seriously injured in Lake Lanier jet ski accident dies

Investigators believe the victim hit the shore moving at high-speed. She was taken to the hospital but didn't survive.

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — A woman in her twenties died after an accident involving a jet ski on Lake Lanier, Saturday.

Hall County Fire Services reported that the accident happened around 2:30 p.m. in the area of Van Pugh Park. The victim was removed from the water by bystanders and taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville by fire first-responders.  Her injuries were described as serious by first responders and she ultimately died.

According to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, the victim, 20-year-old Kaylynn Ticas of Lawrenceville, was traveling at high-speed when she struck the shoreline.

The DNR is investigating the crash and will release more details as they become available; though, it could take several weeks.
