TRAFFIC | Be on the lookout for icy roads around Atlanta Tuesday morning

Temperatures are expected to drop throughout the morning commute.

ATLANTA — Schools and government offices are delaying their openings Tuesday out of caution with icy temperatures expected throughout the peak of the morning commute.

That means you should be careful, too.

There's significant potential for black ice, after a rainy Monday gave way to frosty overnight conditions.

11Alive Traffic Tracker Crash Clark is monitoring conditions, and we'll be providing updates on any wrecks or traffic backups that develop. So far, it appears with all the closures and delays people have mostly been staying off the roads, which has minimized any traffic incidents.

The Georgia Department of Transportation's Natalie Dale tells Crash the 8:00-8:30 a.m. block will be the riskiest for black ice this morning. Watch his full interview:

Watch out for a wreck on the loop that takes you from I-75 South to I-85 North, and be careful taking that tight turn.

11Alive's Christie Diez is out on the roads in the Thunder Truck, and she reports some black ice on the I-285 East exit to Buford Hwy.
