Norwood hammered as 'Republican' in new mayor's runoff ad

The new ad asks, "Should the next mayor of Atlanta be from the party of Trump?"

The Georgia Democratic Party launched a new, anti-Mary Norwood ad on Friday, accusing the candidate of being a Republican.

The new ad is entitled “Unabashed,” and asks the question, “Should the next mayor of Atlanta be from the party of Trump?”

According to the ad, Norwood, who identifies herself as an independent, voted in 12 GOP primaries and her treasurer is a supporter of President Donald Trump. It also says Norwood was a Republican convention delegate, and she refused to endorse Jon Ossoff in his 6th district congressional election campaign.

Norwood is in a Dec. 5 runoff with Keisha Lance Bottoms in the race to become Atlanta’s 60th mayor in history. Bottoms is a registered Democrat and has the support of Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed and former city councilman Kwanza Hall, who finished seventh in the Nov. 7 election.

On Thursday, Norwood picked up the endorsement of the Buckhead Coalition, headed by former Atlanta mayor Sam Massell.
