Andrew Tyree

Tyree is the correspondent and fill-in host for WXIA's daily lifestyle program, Atlanta & Company.

ATLANTA — Andrew Tyree is an actor, comedian, television host, and public speaker. 

Born in Nuremberg, Germany to military parents, he spent time in the St. Louis foster care system before starting his journey in the arts in New York City.

Tyree became the youngest person and the only African American at the time to tour with the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra and later received a scholarship to the Milwaukee Conservatory of Music. Tyree would later go on to be an award winning poet. He was the Nuyorican Grand Slam champion in 2005 and placed sixth in the 2008 World Slam. He toured with Grammy Award-winning singer Jill Scott on her national tour in 2013 and has an NAACP Image Award nomination for his work on TV One's "Verses & Flow."

Tyree was featured on the first two seasons of VH1’s "Love & Listings," was the host of the award-winning show "Beyond the Block," and Tennis Channel’s “The Break."

He is currently the correspondent and fill-in host for WXIA's daily lifestyle program, Atlanta & Company.
