Andrew Wilson is a meteorologist with the 11Alive StormTrackers in Atlanta, GA. He was born in Newark, DE, but grew up most of his life near Brandon, MS. He joined the 11Alive team in December 2021.

Andrew’s career started at KAIT in Jonesboro, AR, after he graduated in 2013 from Mississippi State University with a degree in professional meteorology with a broadcast emphasis. He gained strong knowledge in severe weather coverage and forecasting during his time in Jonesboro, but then made the move to Biloxi, MS to be closer to family.

While working as a meteorologist at WLOX in Biloxi, he was able to cover more tropical weather and even was given the opportunity to fly into a category four hurricane with the U.S. Air Force Reserve’s 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron, also known as the Hurricane Hunters.

After three years in Biloxi, Andrew moved to the Austin, TX area to be closer to his long-time girlfriend, now wife, Meagan. Andrew took a job at KVUE in Austin, where he worked as a digital content producer and receptionist, occasionally filling in for the weather team. After nearly a year in Austin, both Andrew and his wife worked as meteorologists at KENS in San Antonio for the two years leading up to their big move to Atlanta in December 2021.

His favorite things to do include hiking with his wife and dog, camping, kayaking and anything else that involves the great outdoors. He also enjoys playing ice hockey and disc golf.

“My wife and I had been thinking about where we wanted to call home as we prepare to settle down,” Andrew said. “We both agreed Atlanta's rich history, beautiful landscape, great food and proximity to great hiking, made it the place for us”
