Halloween events in Atlanta | Ranked by scariness

Whether you're looking for fun for the kids, a chance to dress up, or face your deepest fear, Atlanta has plenty to offer.

ATLANTA — There's a chill in the air and that means it's spooky season in the ATL.

But how should you spend it, and how do you know whether you're in for a fun fall activity or an evening that will leave you in terror? Thankfully, we've compiled a running list of some of the best Halloween activities Atlanta has to offer -- and don't fret, we ranked them by intensity.

I have kids who don't want to be scared

  • Haunted Seas at the Georgia Aquarium
    • The aquarium will be transformed into a fully immersive treasure hunting experience featuring ghostly pirates, shipwrecks, and more.
  • Stone Mountain Pumpkin Festival
    • Featuring family-friendly park attractions; including a nighttime Glow-a-Long, Pumpkin Drone Show, and the World's Largest Pumpkin Light Show
  • Boo at the Zoo
    • Featuring trick or treating, photo opportunities, and a chance to show off your own costumes!
  • Kids Boo Fest
    • Family fun at Six Flags featuring rides, trick or treating, a kid-friendly haunted house, and more.

I'm an adult but I still don't want to be scared

  • Halloween Bar Crawl
    • Looking to dress up and hit the town with a group friends? Thankfully, the ATL offers multiple bar crawls to get into the spooky spirit. Some examples including Buckhead, Midtown, and Virginia Highland.
  • Live! at the Battery
  • Capturing the Spirit of Oakland
    • More educational than it is terrifying, this night time guided tour through Atlanta's historic cemetery allows you the opportunity to hear tales of some of its most famous residents, coupled with music and drinks.

I don't mind being just a little bit scared

  • "Dracula: The Failings of Men"
    • From the pages of Bram Stoker's classic vampire novel to the stage of Atlanta's Shakespeare Tavern, this currently running show promises to delivery "fast-paced fights, aerial dance, and larger than life blood effects."
  • Horror classics at local theaters
    • There's nothing quite like seeing a great horror movie with a packed audience. And lucky, historic Atlanta theaters like The Plaza and Tara are offering the chance to view a wide range from classics like "The Exorcist" and "Evil Dead 2" to more niche titles like "Possession" and the BBC's infamous TV movie "Ghostwatch."
  • Little 5 Points Ghost Tour
    • Hear tales from "the spooky side of Atlanta." A clairvoyant will take you on a tour through the historic neighborhood where you can visit some of the city's eeriest landmarks.
