ATLANTA — Heather Tedeschi has always called her 10-year-old daughter her little twin.

She said the two of them share many of the same traits: they're compassionate, courageous and a bit stubborn.

It's something Emma has always been proud of. She wants to be just like her mom.

So, when Heather was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in March, Emma decided she wanted to look like her, too.

As soon as her mom's hair started to fall out from the treatment, Emma told her she was ready to shave her own head, too.

Heather said she tried to talk her daughter out of it, but Emma was determined to do everything in her 10-year-old power to support her mom.

So, with tears in their eyes, they shaved their heads together and prepared for the fight.

Heather's 14-year-old son and husband also joined in, shaving their own heads to support the young mother.

Story continues below gallery.

Heather said the diagnosis came as a complete shock. She added she got a toothache after getting a wisdom tooth extracted, which rapidly progressed to feeling weak, nauseous and bruised.

Her husband rushed her to urgent care on March 13 and she was diagnosed with cancer on March 14.

She said since the diagnosis, her family and community have rallied around her, donating platelets, bringing food and sharing her story.

Heather said she's blown away by the support she has received from everyone since the diagnosis but especially touched by the strength of her own family.

Especially her little twin, who will be by her side no matter what.
