ATLANTA (WXIA) – The WNBA is celebrating its 20th season by unveiling new team uniform colors and other commemorative items for each of the franchises. Most of the teams – including the Atlanta Dream – will have new uniforms for the upcoming season as a result.

The 2016 Atlanta Dream will have a sky blue and a navy blue uniform and will alternate those during home and away contests.

The WNBA and Adidas, the league’s official apparel provider are introducing a new palette of colors for 10 teams. The uniforms for the Los Angeles Sparks and San Antonio Stars will remain the same, since both teams already have all-color uniform designs.

To honor the three teams that competed in the league’s 1997 inaugural season, team-specific 20th season patches will be featured on the uniforms of the New York Liberty, the Phoenix Mercury and the Los Angeles Sparks during the 2016 season. All 12 teams, including the Dream, will pay tribute to the league with a special logo on the back neckline of their jerseys.

Earlier this month, the league announced that marquee partner Verizion’s logo will appear on the fronts of the jerseys of 10 teams.

Other commemorative items will be introduced and be available at WNBAStore.com in April, including the league’s new game ball by Spalding, embossed with the WNBA’s 20th season logo. It will debut on court during the preseason opener on April 29.

The Atlanta Dream will open their 2016 season on the road in San Antonio on Saturday, May 14. Their home opener will be against the Chicago Sky at Philips Arena on Sunday, May 22 at 3 p.m. In addition, the Dream will host a pre-season game against the Los Angeles Sparks on Tuesday, May 10 at Georgia Tech’s McCamish Pavilion at 7 p.m.
