She credits her longevity to her faith in God as she turns 100 years old

COVINGTON, Ga. — A metro Atlanta woman is celebrating a huge milestone: She turns 100 years old on Friday, April 19.

According to her granddaughter, Elizabeth Goins was originally born in Jonesville, South Carolina, where she then moved to Baltimore, Maryland, for 95 years. She recently moved to Covington in 2020.

Goins worked in Maryland as a private duty nurse for 42 years, helping bring newborns to their homes from the hospitals, her granddaughter, Tiffani West, told 11Alive. 

"She is loved by many, and we are so grateful and thankful to have her in our lives," said West. 

She added that he grandmother credits her longevity to "her faith in God and to eating whatever she wanted."

Her grandmother has traveled all over the world, from France, London, and England to Africa, Mexico and Canada.

West said Goins also loves to tell jokes and has been invited to several church groups and institutions to entertain people with her humor.
