1 dead after shooting at intersection near Atlanta University Center, police say

This is a developing story.

ATLANTA — One person is dead after a shooting at a busy west Atlanta intersection Friday evening, police said.

Atlanta Police responded just after 5 p.m. and said a person was shot and killed at the intersection of Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive SW and Joseph E. Lower Boulevard NW. The intersection is just several blocks away from the Atlanta University Center.

The man was found with several gunshot wounds and was declared dead at the scene, according to police.

The intersection is near a Zaxby's and Chick-fil-A, which are located near the Atlanta University Center and the Vine City neighborhood.

It's unclear what led up to the shooting or if anybody is in custody at this time.
