ATLANTA — Authorities are working to find the person they said approached a couple sitting in front of a Clark Atlanta University dorm and shot a man while trying to rob him.

Atlanta Police Department officers said it happened just before 11 p.m. on Oct. 20 along 700 Beckwith St. SW, which is Beckwith Hall. Atlanta Police were called to help campus authorities.

Officers arrived to find a young man who had been shot. He was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital critically hurt.

So far, police said the shooting victim was with his girlfriend when he was approached by at least one person outside of the dorm demanding his belongings. This sparked a dispute between the man and the person; the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the man.

The shooting suspect took off into a dark-colored vehicle parked on the city street, according to APD.
