CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — A 41-year-old man stands charged with murder in the shooting death of his 56-year-old father in Clayton County, police said Friday.

According to the Clayton County Police Department, the son, Michael Lambert, was "identified as the person responsible for the death of his father, Daryl Holmes" after Holmes was found dead in his home on Wednesday.

Police said officers had been called to a domestic disturbance between the two to the home on Friar Ct. between the two the previous night, Tuesday Dec. 12.

"Based on the information divulged to detectives, after the responding officers provided remedies to resolve the dispute and left the location, the dispute between Holmes and Lambert continued," a statement said. "On December 13, 2023, concern for Holmes’ safety came when family members were unable to make contact with him which is what led to Holmes being located deceased within his home."

Lambert was arrested in Lake City a day later after his father was found dead.

His charges include:

  • Malice murder
  • Possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime
  • Possession of a weapon by a convicted felon
  • Aggravated assault
