GAINESVILLE, Ga. — Gainesville Police on Monday announced an arrest in a September hit-and-run that left a man dead.

According to the Gainesville Police Department, Omer Herman Lee Morris was fatally struck on McEver Road back in September. The department said that the release of a video of the car involved led to the arrest of a 44-year-old Gainesville man.

“We are thankful for the many tips, information and leads from the community. We hope this arrest will help bring some closure to the family of Mr. Morris," Chief Jay Parrish said in a statement.

The suspect now faces charges including felony homicide by vehicle, felony failure to stop at accident with death or serious injury, felony tampering with evidence and leaving the scene of an accident.
