CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. — A Friday afternoon accident on I-575 ended with a woman dead on Friday afternoon. Now, police are looking for another vehicle that may have been involved.

Authorities with the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office said that deputies responded to the scene near Airport Drive around 2:30 p.m.

They arrived to find an SUV that had been traveling north had left the road, rolled several times and struck a tree. The driver, only identified at this point as a female, sustained serious injuries and was taken to North Fulton Hospital.

A child was also in the vehicle and taken to Children's Healthcare Scottish Rite but had injuries that weren't considered life-threatening.

Later in the evening, a spokesperson for the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office confirmed that the seriously injured woman had died.

Witnesses said they saw a dark passenger car, possibly a Chevrolet Cruz, that may have played a role in the accident. Investigators with the sheriff's traffic enforcement unit are asking any other potential witnesses who might have seen the accident to call them at 678-310-4140.
