Man arrested for allegedly posing as federal agent, robbing Gwinnett County family

Luis Soto was arrested and faces several charges.

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — One man has been arrested, and two suspects are wanted after allegedly forcing their way into a Lawrenceville apartment, posing as a federal agent, and robbing a father and son, according to Gwinnett County police

Police say on Dec. 6, officers responded to a home invasion at The Crest at Sugarloaf Apartments, located at 1400 Herrington Road.

Upon arrival, one of the victims told police that three suspects, dressed in tactical gear and armed with guns, grabbed him as he was returning home and forced their way into his apartment.

Once the suspects were inside the home, they zip-tied the victim and his son and demanded drugs and money from him.

The suspects allegedly told them that they were federal agents and that they had been under surveillance for many months. Police say they stole about $3,000 worth of sneakers and jewelry.

After the burglars left, the victims were able to free themselves and called 911.

Through an investigation, detectives identified Luis Soto as one of the suspects involved in the home invasion, and Gwinnett County police apprehended him during a felony traffic stop on Jan. 25.
