Multiple injuries after driver carjacked at gunpoint in Atlanta, ensuing chase ends in crash: APD

One person was rushed to Grady Hospital in critical condition, police said.

ATLANTA — Atlanta Police are investigating a car crash following a chase Wednesday night in the northwest part of the city that has led to multiple injuries.

APD said they were alerted to a driver who had been carjacked at gunpoint by two men around 8 p.m. around the 700 block of Magnolia Way NW in Vine City. The suspects then forced the driver into the back of his car before dropping him off and picking up another suspect.

The suspect in the carjacked vehicle then led officers on a chase and eventually crashed into another vehicle at Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard NW and Lena Street NW. One of the suspects was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, while two of the suspects were in the hospital in stable condition.

The other driver, who was a victim in the crash, sustained only minor injuries despite the head-on collision.

All three suspects, including one juvenile, are charged with aggravated assault, kidnapping and hijacking a motor vehicle. One of the suspects faces a dangerous drugs charge from an outstanding warrant in Fulton County.

Georgia State Patrol was also investigating the crash.
