TOCCOA, Ga. — A north Georgia man has been arrested and charged with murder after he allegedly stabbed his father to death and badly injured his mom on Thursday, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

The GBI said that 39-year-old Christopher Vaughn, of Toccoa, was charged with one count of murder and two counts of aggravated assault.

Deputies with the Stephen's County Sheriff's Office responded to a call of a person stabbed around 7:40 a.m. at a home in Toccoa along Bart Holcomb Road. When they got there, the GBI said they found 63-year-old William Vaughn dead inside the home.

Less than two hours before responding to the stabbing, the GBI said that deputies were called out to the home around 6 a.m. to a verbal domestic call at the same house. Authorities did not give any other details about the initial call.

After clearing the home, authorities found Christopher inside a locked room, where they were able to take him into custody, according to the GBI.

Christopher's 62-year-old mother was later found at a home close by with "substantial injuries" from allegedly being stabbed by her son, the GBI said in a news release. She was airlifted to the hospital.

Christopher was booked into the Stephens County Jail.
