A chase turned into a shootout with police.
Shrimp truck carjacking

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. -- Police arrested one man and are searching for two others after a chase that started with stolen shrimp and ended in gunfire early Wednesday.

The chase began in Southwest Atlanta at Prestige Farms on Empire Boulevard at about 4:15 a.m.

Atlanta Police responding to a 911 call found three men stealing boxes of frozen shrimp from an 18-wheeler and loading them into a rental truck.

Officers initially thought the driver of the 18-wheeler had been held at gunpoint, but they later determined he was asleep in his cab when the men broke the lock in the back.

When the trio spotted police, two men jumped in the cab and took off. The third man stayed in the back and threw boxes of shrimp from the truck before jumping off along Moreland Avenue.

Officers chased the rental truck to Ellenwood, where it flipped over onto the railroad tracks near Double Bridge Road and Front Street.

One suspect was able to run away, but the other man was trapped inside the vehicle.

Police identified him as Mario Keen, 37. They said Keen shot at police from the truck. Officers fired back but no one was hit.

Keen surrendered and was arrested.

Two police vehicles were damaged during the chase. One was hit by the fleeing truck and the other was struck by gunfire.
