ATLANTA -- Police are actively searching a southwest Atlanta neighborhood Tuesday afternoon for a man they say is a person of interest in the July 10 rape of a 16-year-old girl.
Officer Stephanie Brown said that on that evening, the suspect allegedly pushed the girl into a wooded area in the 3000 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and sexually assaulted her at gunpoint.
Investigators are describing the suspect they're looking for as a black male in his early 20s with short black hair and brown eyes. He's described as being 5-feet-10-inches in height or taller with a slender build and has a tattoo of lips on his neck.
An artist's sketch indicates the suspect may also have gold teeth. He is described by police as armed and dangerous.
Police said the suspect is known to frequent the area of MLK Drive near Fairburn Road in southwest Atlanta.
