Authorities investigate suspected Lawrenceville arson

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — Fire authorities are investigating a suspected arson in Lawrenceville that broke out Tuesday morning.

Crews were called to a business fire on Seaboard Industrial Drive NE at 2:34 a.m., after a 911 caller reported the flames. Firefighters arrived to find work vehicles owned by a concrete company burning behind the business. The address is near National Cement and Argos USA. The fire did not extend to any nearby buildings, according to crews at the scene.

Deploying multiple fire hoses to douse the flames, Lawrenceville police also shut down Seaboard Industrial Drive until the fire was under control at 3:08 a.m.

No one was hurt, according to officials.

Gwinnett County Fire investigators are leading a joint investigation with Lawrenceville Police Department and county police. Authorities said the fire is under investigation.

"Arson is a serious felony crime and is punishable by imprisonment and associated with fines," Gwinnett County Fire said.

Anyone with information about the fire is asked to contact the Gwinnett County Fire Investigations Section at 678-518-4890 or the Georgia Arson Control Hotline at 1-800-282-5804. Georgia Arson Control, Inc. offers a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for arson.
