CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — A man accused of illegally dumping over 100,000 tires throughout Clayton County has been arrested after he allegedly beat his girlfriend and put her in the hospital.

Officers approached the 300 block of Independence Drive with caution because Leverette still had the handgun, according to Clayton County Police Chief Kevin Roberts. After establishing a perimeter around the area, officers apprehended Leverette and he was transported to Clayton County Police headquarters for questioning.

Leverette was identified as a serial tire dumper after he was spotted on surveillance video. Police said he would pay people to rent U-Haul trucks under their names and then he would use those trucks to dump tires across the county.

Felony warrants were issued for his arrest, as authorities work to crack down on the illegal practice across the county.
