Warrants issued for 19-year-old accused in sexual assault against UGA student

Officer said the reported assault happened off-campus during the early morning hours of Sunday, Feb. 23.

ATHENS, Ga. — Athens-Clarke County Police need help finding a 19-year-old accused in a sexual assault where the victim was University of Georgia student. 

Investigators are looking for 19-year-old Dionicio Guadarrama. Officers said they obtained warrants for Guadarrama for rape, aggravated sexual battery, and sexual battery.

Officers said the reported assault happened off-campus during the early morning hours of Sunday, Feb. 23.

Police said the victim met a male suspect and another person in the downtown district and went with them back to the North Campus parking deck around 3:20 a.m.  According to an alert to students from the University, the victim was then driven from the deck, and it was during that ride that the reported assault happened.

The school's notice said, at one point, the victim was seen being carried on the back of one of the suspects before entering the car and being driven away.

On Tuesday, officers said they are actively searching for Guadarrama, who may have left the area. They also released a photo of Guadarrama, noting that the image is a few years old;  Guadarrama will appear a little older than depicted.

Police said anyone that has been victimized by sexual assault or child abuse can call The Cottage Crisis Hotline at 706-353-1912.
