Toddlers nearly drown, mom's boyfriend charged

The little girl and boy were pulled from a pool in the backyard.

ROCKDALE, Ga. — Two toddlers are in critical condition after they nearly drowned in a backyard when their caretaker failed to keep an eye on them, according to Rockdale Police.

Police said the incident happened shortly after noon on Wednesday in the backyard of a home off Blackberry Lane.

When police arrived, the little girl and boy had just been pulled from the pool. The young girl was breathing, police said, but they turned her body on its side so she could continue to breathe.

Lt. Scott Stewart immediately began performing CPR on the little boy and kept doing it until EMS arrived, according to reports. Once medical responders arrived, both children were taken to Piedmont Rockdale. Piedmont Rockdale professionals decided to fly the toddlers to Children Health Care of Atlanta Scottish Rite Hospital.

The children were under the supervision of 21-year-old Trevor Chase Bohannon, the boyfriend of the children's mother. Chase was arrested on two counts of Reckless Conduct and is currently being held in the Rockdale County Jail.
