Walmart employee arrested in deadly shooting of teenager

FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. — Editor's note: The video above is previous coverage of the case. 

A Walmart employee was arrested in connection to a deadly double shooting that killed a teenager and injured a 9-year-old girl on Friday, according to the Fayetteville Police Department on Saturday.

Adrian Jelks, 19, was arrested on Wednesday morning around 2:19 a.m., police said, on murder and other related charges. 

The shooting happened at the Walmart in the Fayette Pavilion shopping center on Friday night around 10 p.m. 

When officers arrived at the store on Friday, 19-year-old Antavius Holton was found shot, and a 9-year-old girl was hit by a stray bullet and rushed to the hospital, police said. An update on Saturday stated Holton had died, but the child is expected to be OK. 

Police said they are actively working leads and have a second person, a 19-year-old woman, in custody being "transported to the Fayette County Jail, pending warrants for party to a crime for the offenses of murder and aggravated assault."

Walmart provided a statement on Saturday: 

"We're heartbroken by what happened in our Fayetteville store Friday night and extend our sympathies to the loved ones of those involved. We are working with law enforcement to assist them in any way we can as they investigate."
