DeKalb County superintendent's contract extended three more years

Dr. Devon Horton is now set to serve through June of 2027.

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Dekalb County Schools Superintendent Dr. Devon Horton is set to lead the district for three more years.

The school board unanimously agreed, with a 6-0 vote, to extend Horton's contract on Friday.

"I am grateful for the trust and encouragement from the Board," said Dr. Horton. "Our collective efforts to enhance student outcomes will continue, and we are determined to make significant progress. As there is always room for improvement, we will not rest until every child is equipped to pursue and achieve their dreams and aspirations."

Board Chair Mr. Dijon DaCosta, Sr., said the superintendent has "consistently delivered on his vision to disrupt for excellence" since he assumed the position in July.

Members also agreed to exercise the three-year option in his original contract, which means he is now set to serve as superintendent through June of 2027.
