ATLANTA -- More than 350 of the best high school quiz bowl teams from across the nation will be in Atlanta this weekend for the 2018 High School National Championship Tournament.
Twenty schools from metro Atlanta are participating in this year's tournament, including Chattahoochee and Northview high schools -- which have particularly strong teams.
During the tournament, teams of four students face off to answer questions requiring significant knowledge of a range of subjects.
Members of championship teams from the tournament in past years have gone on to become some of the strongest competitors in the history of Jeopardy! including the show's all-time top winners Brad Rutter and Ken Jennings.
Last year's tournament featured 304 teams, and the A-Team from Hunter College High School in New York City emerged victorious.
This year's tournament takes place at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in downtown Atlanta. The competition runs all weekend, culminating with the finals on Sunday evening.
