Days after finding a man dead along Dahlonega Highway in Forsyth County, investigators have made an arrest.
The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said 36-year-old David Emory Castleberry of Cumming, Georgia initially ran when they found him up in White County. However, a K-9 officer ultimately caught up with him and he was placed under arrest.
Investigators now believe Castleberry was the one riding a black and green Kawasaki ZX1000 that was found parked not far away from where another man, 27-year-old Jose D. Ramirez Labra was found dead.
Friends said Labra had left a home off of the highway where his body was found. Clues from the scene including the damaged motorcycle and a visor without a helmet found not far away helped investigators determine that the victim was hit by the bike and that Castleberry left the scene.
After learning his identity, the sheriff's office along with the U.S. Marshal's Service began searching locations where he might have been including Dawson and White counties.
Castleberry now sits in the Forsyth County jail on charges of second-degree homicide by vehicle, hit-and-run and habitual violator - all felonies. He also faces misdemeanor charges of removing or affixing a license plate to misrepresent and no insurance.
