HENRY COUNTY, Ind — A 10-year-old girl from Henry County was honored by the Henry County Sheriff's Office on Friday.
Aneres Bellefont was presented the award Jan. 19 by Henry County Sheriff John M. Sproles for her quick-thinking that saved the life of another person.
According to a social media post, on Jan. 8, Bellefont called the Henry County 911 dispatch office to report that she had found an adult male unconscious inside a vehicle that was near her house. She also found an unconscious adult female near the car.
Bellefont reported that she believed both people were not breathing and that no other adults were nearby the scene.
Remaining calm, Bellefont helped emergency personnel by giving the precise locations of the two adults and continuing to update the dispatchers with the condition of each adult.
Once medics arrived, they were able to administer Narcan to each of the subjects before they were transferred to the Henry Community Health hospital. One of the adults was taken to the ICU.
"Aneres, you are a true hero! Two adults are alive today because you courageously took control of the emergency situation you found yourself in. You did all of the right things!" read the social media post.
