57-year-old man struck by car, killed on busy Marietta road, police say

Police said the man was outside of the painted crosswalk when he was hit.

MARIETTA, Ga. — A 57-year-old man was killed Saturday night after he was hit by a car on a busy Marietta road, according to police.

Marietta Police Department's Selective Traffic Enforcement Program Unit were called out to South Marietta Parkway at Wylie Road just after 10:15 p.m. for a pedestrian that was hit by a car.

The investigation revealed that a 2014 Nissan Altima was traveling eastbound on South Marietta Parkway, and when the driver approached the intersection at Wylie Road, 57-year-old William Gould of Marietta was struck and killed, police said.

Police said that Gould was walking outside of the painted crosswalk when he was hit.
