HALL COUNTY, Ga. — Investigators made an arson arrest after a house fire near Gainesville over the weekend, Hall County Fire Rescue announced Monday.

The blaze broke out Saturday evening at the home at the 2300 block of Athens Highway.

When firefighters arrived at the home around 6:30 p.m., they found the home fully engulfed in flames and they were able to begin a defensive attack to put out the fire.

One person was treated for minor injuries and was taken to a non-emergency hospital, fire officials added.

The Hall County Fire Marshal's Office had been investigating the fire for two days, using the State Fire Marshal's Office arson K-9 to detect if fire accelerants were used at the home.

A 55-year-old man was taken into custody and charged with first-degree arson, officials said.

No other details were released from investigators at this time.
