Krog Street Tunnel in Atlanta to close for 2 weeks for construction | How to get around

ATLANTA — An Atlanta tunnel and walkway known for its colorful canvas of graffiti artwork, tributes and political messages is closing down temporarily for construction.

Krog Street Tunnel,  a passageway that links the northeast Atlanta communities of Cabbagetown, Reynoldstown and Inman Park on the Eastside Trail of the BeltLine, will be closed to cars for two weeks for construction related to the Krog Street Stormwater Project.

The road will be closed to traffic from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Friday from Feb. 27 through March 12. The roads will reopen on the weekends, and sidewalk access will remain open to pedestrians throughout the duration of the project.

Construction detours

Traffic on DeKalb Avenue NE:

  • Turn right onto Krog Street NE and head north to Edgewood Avenue SE
  • Turn left onto Boulevard NE and continue south to Memorial Drive S

Traffic on Wylie Street SE:

  • Utilize Pearl Street SE and turn right onto Memorial Drive SE
  • Head west and turn right onto Boulevard SE
  • Head northwest to DeKalb Avenue NE

"This project exemplifies Mayor Andre Dickens' initiative of Moving Atlanta Forward by making improvements to our infrastructure to make us A City Built For the Future," a spokesperson with the Department of Watershed Management said in a release. "These upgrades will also keep the neighborhood safe by improving the resiliency of the infrastructure."
