Cherokee County sport shooting club and grill appears to burn down in fire

Cherokee County Fire EMS posted pictures of the fire they were battling Thursday morning at Garland Mountain Sporting Clays & Grill.

CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. — A sport shooting club and grill in Cherokee County appears to have nearly totally burned down early Thursday morning in a fire, Cherokee County Fire EMS reported.

The fire happened at Garland Mountain Sporting Clays & Grill. The website for the business also indicates it serves as a wedding venue. It is located at 2618 Garland Mountain Trail in the Waleska area.

The Cherokee County fire service posted photos showing what appeared to essentially be a total loss of the main structure at the club. Video provided by the fire service (which can be seen in the player above this story) showed the extent of the loss.

The fire service said crews were dispatched just after 4 a.m. to the site and found "most of the building already on the ground with fire extending to nearby golf carts, as well as many spot fires in the woods surrounding the property."

Cherokee's crews, along with responders from Pickens County and Georgia Forestry, were battling the fire.

"No injuries have been reported and the cause of the fire has not yet been determined," Cherokee County Fire EMS wrote on Facebook.
