Chick-fil-A: Unveiling the secret behind the name

Luckily for us, it's right on the website.

ATLANTA — When it comes to Atlanta-based fast-food chicken, one spot stands out ahead of the rest —Chick-fil-A. But have you ever wondered why the name is stylized the way it is?

Luckily for us, it's right on the website.

Story behind the name Chick-fil-A

According to the company's website, "Chick-fil-A" is "a fun play on words and a promise."

The "Chick" in Chick-fil-A comes from the word "chicken," while the "fil-A" both stands in for "filet" and is stylized specifically to emphasize the "Grade-A" quality of the chicken used in their menu items.

Founder Truett Cathy wanted a name that reflected the restaurant's focus on serving high-quality, fresh chicken products. Thus, Chick-fil-A was born.

But the story doesn't end there. The capitalization of the "A" in "fil-A" isn't just a stylistic choice — it also signifies that Chick-fil-A aims to offer "grade-A" service to its customers.

The "A," according to the company, has also evolved to "encompass 'All' the little things" they do.

"It extends to the way Chick-fil-A restaurants care for Guests and Team Members and make a positive impact on their local communities," the company wrote in part.

So, the next time you find yourself craving some chicken goodness, remember that Chick-fil-A isn't just about serving up delicious meals — it's about "cluck-tivating" an experience that leaves customers coming back for more.
