ACWORTH, Ga. — A 50-year-old woman from Kansas lost her life on Monday after a deadly crash in Acworth, according to Cobb County Police

The crash happened at the intersection of Cobb Parkway and Black Acre Trail just before 8:30 p.m.

Police said a 36-year-old man was heading south on Cobb Parkway in his Jeep and was approaching the intersection when a gray sedan with four passengers attempted to make a left turn on Black Acre Trail.

When making the left turn, investigators said the driver of the sedan intersected with the Jeep's path, causing the deadly collision. Authorities said the sedan then overturned, and the Jeep was redirected to the other side of the road.

Authorities said all passengers in the sedan were taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with serious injuries, including 50-year-old Angela Smith, where she later died.

The driver of the Jeep had minor injuries, police said.

Investigators are still looking into the circumstances surrounding the crash. Anyone with information is urged to call the police department at (770) 499-3987.
