Fulton County one step closer to services returning after recent cyberattack

While progress was made over the weekend, the county said there is still more work to be done.

ATLANTA — Fulton County is continuing to investigate a cyberattack last week that caused a widespread government system outage.

On Monday, officials released an update, followed by a brief press conference. In their update, county officials noted that "there is no evidence or reason to believe that this incident is related to the election process or other current events."

While progress was made over the weekend, the county said there is still more work to be done for the IT team to bring things fully back to normal.

"Throughout this process, we are prioritizing public safety and supporting essential services with workarounds that have been implemented for the time being," the update added.

What has been updated

The county stated that phone services are restored and the Board of Assessors has resumed homestead exemption applications. However, officials noted the latter is still being done manually, so residents may still need to bring documents if applying.

Boards of Equalization hearings are set to resume Tuesday, though the county notes that the process "will require some modification at this time."
