Georgia Power tweeted Sunday: "We are seeing large amounts of damage across Metro Atlanta and North Georgia. In areas that are the most heavily affected, our team is working to navigate the damage and get the lights back on for customers. If you are in an area that was impacted by high winds, heavy rain, downed trees or other dangerous conditions, please keep safety a top priority."

Georgia Power said in a release Monday morning that had restored power to over 200,000 customers who lost it throughout Sunday and the overnight period Monday morning.

"Crews will continue working throughout the day to restore power to customers who are still experiencing outages caused by the severe thunderstorms that brought high winds, heavy rain and lightning. There are more than 1,400 individual cases of damage that must be addressed to restore service," the release said.
