DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -- Police say a 4-year-old girl kidnapped by her father and uncle from a Georgia daycare was found in New York City.

According to the DeKalb County Police Department, Jimai Hill was taken by her father, Randall Hill, who did not have custodial rights to his daughter, and George Lanier.

Randall Hill was denied access to his daughter by employees because he's not listed as an approved care giver for the child at the day care, police said. However, Lanier, the child's uncle, was approved to check the child in and out of daycare. Lanier does not have custodial rights to the child.

Lanier handed the child to Randall Hill, according to police.

Hill told a daycare employee that they would not be returning to the location.

Hours later, the child's mother received a text from Hill saying that he had the girl on a bus to New York (thought to possibly be in the Brooklyn area).

Police asked the public to be on the look out for Randall Hill, Lanier or Jimai Hill.

Federal officers and local police finally found the 4-year-old around 7 p.m., in the Brooklyn area of New York City.

Police said a passerby had seen the suspect's photo on the news and pointed him out to officers on the street. Officers took him into custody without incident. The uncle is still on the loose.

Officers said the child was located with an unknown woman a short time later on a mass transit train near the area.

EMS checked the child out and the New York equivalent of DFACS took custody of the girl.

The child's mother has been contacted to notify her that the child is safe. Police are currently trying to make travel arrangements for the mother and child to be reunited.
