DAHLONEGA, Ga. — Members of a north Georgia community and high school are coming together to mourn the sudden death of a student.

Lumpkin County High School released a statement on Saturday announcing that a junior at the school had died Saturday morning. While not releasing the name of the student, the system announced that they would be providing grief counselors through the weekend and into Monday.

In addition to being available on Saturday, counselors and social workers would be available at the school on Sunday and Monday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The school system also asked parents to keep a close eye on their children as they process the death of a classmate and grieve the loss.

The Lumpkin County Sheriff's Office also shared the message calling the death a "tremendous loss" and asking the community to pray for the family and all responders who worked at the scene.
