ATLANTA — Piedmont Healthcare Inc. is moving its Atlanta headquarters to one of the first office towers in Midtown's Atlantic Station, bringing hundreds of employees to the town center district.

Piedmont is moving its executive and administrative offices from Paces Ferry Road just inside the Atlanta Perimeter to the 271-17th building. In relocating to the 25-story tower in Atlantic Station, Piedmont gives its new offices a view of the system's more than 600-bed hospital campus on Peachtree Road in Buckhead. The campus is less than 2 miles away.

Piedmont Healthcare has been considering the move intown for a while, sources familiar with process told our media partner, the Atlanta Business Chronicle. It also looked at other buildings in Midtown.

In a statement, Piedmont Healthcare said it is consolidating its system support departments into one location. It said the decision improves work efficiencies and cuts its administrative footprint by half.

"We have been assessing and planning for a more efficient and consolidated space overall the past several years," Piedmont said. "This new location provides our organization with a better place for working together more efficiently and effectively."
