NEW ORLEANS – NFL superstar Odell Beckham Jr. has filed a lawsuit against paparazzi, according to The News Orleans Advocate.

The lawsuit was filed in New Orleans Civil District Court this week by Beckham, who currently plays for the Giants and a former LSU star, after he received a letter from Splash News & Picture Agency demanding $40,000 over the use of a copyrighted photo on his Instagram account.

The image, which is still on Beckham’s Instagram account, was posted on October 26. It shows him outside of his home in New Jersey after undergoing surgery for a fractured ankle that he sustained during a Week 5 game.

The lawsuit does not state how Beckham got the photo, however it states that there was “nothing creative or distinctive about the point-and-shoot, ambush-style photos, except that they feature Beckham.”

The lawsuit further states that the behavior of Splash News to demand payment from Beckham for the photo is “utterly troll-ish.”
