Two rescued, emergency personnel injured in northeast Georgia's Tahlullah Gorge

One person had been reported to have drowned, but was resuscitated.

RABUN COUNTY, Ga. -- Five people were injured or treated for heat exhaustion Saturday in northeast Georgia's Tahlullah Gorde, three of whom were rescue personnel.

State and local officials responded to two calls: one person who was suffering from a medical condition and another person who had reportedly drowned.

Both victims were rescued from the gorge, and the drowning victim has been reported to be resuscitated. The other victim was treated for heat exposure.

The drowning victim was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center by helicopter.

Two rescue personnel were treated for heat exposure, while another was injured while in the gorge and has also been taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Haberham and Rabun County, along with Tahlullah Falls and state DNR emergency officials responded to the calls.
