Suspects sought after Roswell officer attacked with knife

ROSWELL, Ga. – A Roswell police officer is recovering after being cut by two men on Wednesday. According to Officer Lisa Holland of the Roswell Police Department, Officer John Lathem was patrolling the parking lot of Champions Green Apartments off of Holcomb Bridge Road when he saw two suspicious men near a building on Belmont Drive. Lathem left his car and tried to speak with the men and a struggle ensued. The officer was cut on his face and forearm with a knife. Lathem fired his weapon and both men fled. Police searched the area but were unable to find the attackers. The suspects are described as two black men wearing black hooded sweat shirts. One man had a question mark graphic on the front of his sweat shirt, while the other man was described as heavy-set with dreadlocks. Lathem, a 15-year veteran, received stitches and is expected to make a full recovery.
