Victim identified in deadly motorcycle accident on Barrett Parkway

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Police have identified a motorcyclist and driver involved in a deadly crash in Cobb County on Saturday afternoon - and given details about what exactly happened.

Cobb County Police spokesperson Wayne Delk, in a statement, said that the crash happened around 3:20 p.m. in the area of Barrett Parkway and Rocky Ridge Road.

Delk said that a 2016 BMW S1000 motorcycle was heading north on Barrett Parkway when it collided with a southbound Toyota Avalon that was about to turn onto Rocky Ridge Road. 

The motorcyclist, later identified as 43-year-old John Franklin White of Marietta, was rushed to Kennestone Hospital but was pronounced deceased there. 

The other driver, 57-year-old Clintina Mitchell, wasn't injured in the crash. Delk didn't say whether charges were pending in the case but said that the department's Selective Traffic Enforcement Team (STEP) Unit is investigating the crash.
