Stephen Curry says Game 6 will be the most important game of his career

Even if the Golden State Warriors, up 3-2 in the NBA Finals, don't finish off the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday night, they still have a Game 7 left at Oracle Arena on Sunday.

Even if the Golden State Warriors, up 3-2 in the NBA Finals, don't finish off the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday night, they still have a Game 7 left at Oracle Arena on Sunday.

For sharpshooting superstar Stephen Curry, though, that one-game cushion does't matter. When asked during Wednesday's practice if Game 6 will be the most important game of his career, particularly given the fact that he hasn't played to his full potential in the series,  the back-to-back MVP was forthright.

"Yeah, we have a chance to win a championship, so definitely the biggest game, and I'm ready for it."

The NBA world is anxiously awaiting Curry's "Finals moment" as he particularly struggled in Games 1-3. The Cavs face the opportunity to extend the series and give the Warriors their second consecutive loss — something that only the Oklahoma City Thunder have done this season. And, as USA TODAY Sports' Sam Amick suggested, there may be be there may be more on the line in Game 6 than just another championship.

In Curry's mind, though, all that matters is the end result, the Warriors hoisting their second Larry O'Brien Trophy in as many years.

"I want to honestly play better and more consistent, but the situation is right now we're one game away from winning a second championship, and I personally have 48 minutes to do what I need to do to help my team win," Curry said. "So right now you could kind of get lost in (the criticism). But at the end of the day if I'm sitting here tomorrow night with another trophy and celebrating with my teammates, we can talk all day."
