WASHINGTON — Do you relish the idea of driving a giant hot dog? Oscar Mayer may have just the job for you.

The company is opening 12 full-time driving positions for its iconic 27-foot-long hot dog vehicle: the Wienermobile. The year-long "Hotdogger" gig is for "outgoing, creative, friendly college graduates who have an appetite for adventure," according to the job posting.

To cut the mustard, candidates will need a bachelor's degree — preferably in public relations or similar fields.

Even if you meet those qualifications, competition may be fierce. According to USA Today, less than 1% of applicants were hired on average.

“The title of a Hotdogger is a rare and coveted position unique to those seeking adventure and a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” Ed Roland, ‘Top Dog’ and Sr. Manager Brand Communications for Oscar Mayer, said in a statement. “Statistically speaking, more people have visited space than driven the Wienermobile!"

"Hotdoggers" serve as brand ambassadors from coast to coast, working with the company's marketing and sales professionals. Drivers will manage their "own traveling public relations firm on wheels," pitch advertisements and create social content for Oscar Mayer.

Drivers will travel an average of 20,000 miles and visit at least 40 cities across the country.

How much do Oscar Mayer Wienermobile drivers make?

Along with driving the hottest ride in town, drivers will earn a base salary of $35,600 a year, according to the job posting.

"Hotdoggers" have an additional weekly allowance of $150 or $7,200 a year for meals and personal travel. Other benefits include 18 days of paid time off, a full health benefits package and all hotel expenses covered.

This will be the 37th class of "Hotdoggers." The Wienermobile's official website boasts bios of its current class, listing their universities, favorite hot dog topping, and fun facts ranging from "I have a tattoo of the Wienermobile!" to "I lost a tooth in band."

The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile first hit U.S. highways in 1936, but it wasn't until 1988 when the company introduced the "Hotdogger Program."

The position starts on the first week of June and will end the first week of June 2025. Aspiring "Hotdoggers" can apply before Jan. 31, 2024.
