Off-duty GSU officer pepper sprays, shoots 'erratic' man near Greyhound station

Officials said he is alive and has been taken to Grady Hospital for treatment.

ATLANTA — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been called in after a man was shot by an officer in Downtown Atlanta Monday night.

According to officials on the scene, the man was shot by a Georgia State University police officer at the Greyhound bus station located at 232 Forsyth Street, SW.

Before shooting, the officer attempted to use pepper spray on the subject, later identified as Williams Savalas Davis, 38. However, even after being sprayed, Davis continued to fight with the officer.

According to some witnesses, Davis was acting erratically and even started to take off some of his clothes.

Officials said he is alive and has been taken to Grady Hospital for treatment and has been listed in stable condition.

The officer is on routine leave while the GBI investigates.
