Braves part ways with popular sideline reporter Kelsey Wingert

Her contract was set to run through March.

ATLANTA — 11Alive Sports has confirmed through multiple sources that Fox Sports South is not renewing the contract of reporter Kelsey Wingert.

The news was first reported by sports outlet, The Athletic.

Wingert was best known as the Braves sideline reporter for Fox Sports South broadcasts. Her contract was set to run through March.

Wingert has also done television work with the Hawks and Charlotte Hornets on their pre and postgame shows on Fox Sports. The LSU alumna has also done sideline reporting for ACC football games.

In 2018, Wingert was the victim of a freak accident that turned into a very scary situation, when she was hit by a foul ball.  She suffered a fractured eye socket but returned to work a few days later.

While the Braves and Fox Sports did not return 11Alive’s requests for comment, the following day, the network announced a new addition to their broadcast roster: Kelly Crull, who will join the networks as an in-game reporter.

According to Fox Sports, Crull comes from a similar on-air role at NBC Sports Chicago, where she covers games for the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Blackhawks, and Chicago Bulls.

The networks are scheduled to televise eight spring training games and 156 regular season games, including coverage for the Braves’ Opening Day on March 26, at the Arizona Diamondbacks. The networks will also have televise coverage for the Braves’ home opener April 3, against the Miami Marlins. Both telecasts will air on FOX Sports South.
