COMMERCE, Texas — Texas A&M University-Commerce wide receiver Keith Miller has died at age 23, the university said Friday.
"Miller passed away tragically in his apartment near campus on Thursday evening. The entire Lion community sends its deepest sympathy to Keith's family, friends and teammates," said a Texas A&M University-Commerce statement.
Miller transferred to Texas A&M University-Commerce after playing two seasons for the Colorado Buffaloes. He served as a team captain in the 2023 season.
"We are heartbroken by Keith's unexpected passing," said Clint Dolezel, Texas A&M University-Commerce head coach. "Keith was a beloved father, son, teammate and student-athlete. We extend our deepest sympathies and sincere condolences to his family, friends, teammates, and all who loved him at this very difficult time."
Texas A&M University-Commerce said it has expanded services to students needing guidance or support.
"We are shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Keith Miller. The A&M-Commerce community extends its deepest condolences to Keith's family and those who knew and loved him," said Jim Curry, athletics director at Texas A&M University-Commerce. "Words are hard to come by at this moment, but we ask that you keep those impacted by this tragedy in your thoughts and prayers."
"We are deeply saddened by the passing of former Buff, Keith Miller. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and teammates."
Before playing at Colorado and Texas A&M University-Commerce, Miller played high school football at The Colony High School in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. He made the first team All-6A Region I district team twice, according to his player bio.
