Another piece of Atlanta United's formidable puzzle may be missing come season's end.

Citing reports from the United Kingdom, United midfielder Miguel Almiron could be leaving the team in the coming weeks, potentially joining forces with the English Premier League's Newcastle franchise.

According to The Sun and The Chronicle, a number of Premier League clubs have been pursuing Almiron in recent weeks, with transfer-fee offers in the neighborhood of £25 million ... which works out to roughly $19.55 million in US dollars.

And this makes sense, given the season-long dominance of United (on the verge of the MLS Cup title), along with Almiron's standing as one of Major League Soccer's most complete players (12 goals, 20 assists).

Newcastle's apparent victory in the Almiron sweepstakes has the makings of done deal, so much The Sun reports the club's transfer chief will be flying to Atlanta next week to complete the agreement.

A few weeks ago, it was announced that United manager 'Tata' Martino would be leaving the club at season's end, presumably to coach a national team or elite-level pro franchise in Europe or South America.

Almiron, a native of Paraguay, has been with United for the last two seasons. Prior to coming to Atlanta, Almiron spent five seasons within his native country's Primera Division league.
