Despite no US Men's National Team World Cup match in Atlanta, US Soccer wants warm-up game at The Benz

The exhibition game would likely be against an opponent that qualified for the World Cup.

ATLANTA — Though Atlanta will host eight 2026 FIFA World Cup games, there's no guarantee the United States Men's National Team will play here during the tournament.

But, the U.S. may play its final warm-up game before the World Cup at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, said United States Soccer Federation CEO JT Batson.

"Our ambition is to have our final game or 'send-off' game to the World Cup here in Atlanta," Batson told Atlanta Business Chronicle. "That would be the trial run for the World Cup itself."

The exhibition game would likely be against an opponent that qualified for the World Cup.
